About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Large Group Health Plan Salesperson to join our team in our Dallas, Texas market. In this role, you will be responsible for selling self-funded health plans administration, prescription drug administration, stop loss and other benefits offerings to large, self-funded businesses, typically those with over 400 employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the health insurance landscape, the ability to navigate complex group policies, deep in-market broker and employer relationships and a proven track record of high-level sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate leads: Identify and engage potential clients in the large group market, using a variety of lead generation techniques such as networking, cold calling, referrals, and market research.
  • Consult and advise brokers and clients: Work closely with insurance broker, business decision-makers, HR departments, and executives to understand their employee benefit needs and recommend tailored health insurance solutions.
  • Develop and present proposals: Prepare comprehensive and customized health insurance proposals, outlining plan options, costs, and benefits. Deliver clear, concise presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales: Effectively negotiate plan rates, terms, and benefits with clients, aiming to close deals that meet both client needs and company sales targets.
  • Build long-term relationships: Foster strong relationships with brokers and clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction, policy renewals, and potential upselling of additional benefits like dental, vision, or supplemental insurance.
  • Industry and regulatory compliance: Remain current on market trends, new products, and regulatory changes, including Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements and other compliance regulations for large group plans.
  • Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with underwriting and client service teams to ensure seamless onboarding and implementation of new clients.
  • Meet sales goals: Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas by developing new business.

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate will likely have:
  • Proven experience in sales, specifically in large group, self-funded health plans.
  • Deep understanding of large group health insurance products, self-funded plans, level-funded, fully insured plans, and ACA compliance for large employers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with experience selling to senior-level executives and decision-makers.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate the benefits of various health plan options in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Active health insurance license (required or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency with CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently with a results-driven mindset, while also collaborating with internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in large group health plan sales.
  • Knowledge of ancillary products such as prescription drugs, stop-loss, dental, vision, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Familiarity with self-funded insurance options and alternative funding arrangements.


Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certifications.

$150,000-$200,000 USD
