Job Title: Dietary Aide – Day Shift

Location: Latrobe, PA 15650
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Schedule: Day Shift | 5x8-Hour Shifts weekends as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Dietary Aide to support the Food & Nutrition Services team at a respected healthcare facility. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients and staff receive timely, nutritious meals in a safe and sanitary environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service skills, attention to hygiene standards, and flexibility in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Previous experience in a kitchen and a certificate in food handling are required

Key Responsibilities

Patient & Retail Food Services

  • Deliver patient meals and snacks to assigned units in a timely and accurate manner
  • Serve food in retail and café settings with professionalism and courtesy
  • Replenish food and supply stations throughout the department
  • Rotate through cross-functional roles based on department needs
  • Perform dishwashing, pot washing, and general kitchen upkeep

Sanitation & Compliance

  • Maintain all workstations and equipment in a clean, sanitary condition
  • Prepare, serve, and store food following HACCP guidelines
  • Follow proper hygiene protocols including handwashing, glove use, and hair restraints
  • Record dish machine and food temperatures each meal period
  • Practice FIFO (First-In, First-Out) for food storage and handling
  • Ensure all sanitation standards and infection control measures are met

Safety & Equipment Use

  • Operate food service equipment safely and responsibly
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or safety concerns promptly
  • Follow established guidelines for chemical use and storage (MSDS compliance)
  • Apply proper body mechanics and lifting techniques to prevent injury

Customer Service & Communication

  • Provide exceptional service to patients, families, and coworkers
  • Respond to questions regarding food options and dietary restrictions
  • Handle minor concerns promptly or escalate to supervisors as needed
  • Communicate effectively to ensure smooth meal delivery and service operations

Qualifications

  • Required: Active Food Handling Certificate or ServSafe Certificate
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to patient-centered service
  • Familiarity with hospital food service operations is a plus
