About the position


The Maintenance Support Specialist (MSS) at Alaska Airlines serves as a subject matter expert in maintenance response and coordination. This role is crucial for ensuring safety, compliance, and on-time performance in maintenance activities. The MSS will work independently to make informed decisions that positively impact operational efficiency and collaborate with various teams to manage maintenance-related needs effectively.


Responsibilities

In this role, you will:


  • Act as a subject matter expert to coordinate responses to Sector Managers, Routers, and Flight Operations for maintenance-related needs.
  • Monitor ACARS and coordinate with the Maintenance Control Center (MCC) for effective maintenance response.
  • Exercise considerable judgment to make decisions impacting safety, compliance, and operational performance with minimal direction from leadership.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Flight Operations, Ramp, and other teams to determine acceptable aircraft parking.
  • Research and properly code delays in coordination with Maintenance leadership and GOCM.
  • Direct all maintenance-related calls to the appropriate Lead and response unit.


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience


  • 4 years of station experience, including time spent in ground operations.
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people and communicate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company.
  • Ability to establish cross-functional collaborative relationships with other team members and workgroups.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


Nice-to-haves


  • Knowledge of Alaska Airlines System Regulations and FAA policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
