About the position

The Business Intelligence Engineer II (BIE II) role within the Intelligence & Industrialization (I&I) team focuses on providing data analytics, business intelligence, and software configuration support to stakeholders in Global Supply Chain and Transportation Procurement (GSCTP) and Amazon Customs & Trade (ACT). The position involves analyzing and improving metrics and dashboards to facilitate customs brokerage operations, ensuring timely clearance of goods for cross-border transportation. The BIE II will collaborate with various internal teams, communicate effectively with business owners, and develop scalable ETL pipelines to support data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions.
  • Conduct deep dive investigations into operations execution and business problems, identify opportunities, and lead or support implementation.
  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
  • Collaborate with team members on reporting datasets; review and raise code reviews (PL/SQL and Python).
  • Work with technology and analytics teams to support the development of tools, automation, and dashboards.
  • Communicate with and support various internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Requirements

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis.
  • Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field.
  • Experience with AWS solutions such as Glue, Lambda, SES, Athena, and SageMaker; experience with PySpark and Spark SQL.
