As Sr UX Designer on Employee Journeys, you will be responsible for creating, defining, and envisioning innovative and bar raising experiences for Amazons 2 million global and diverse employees, with a focus on Joining, Manager, and administrative experiences. In this role, you will be reviewing designs and concepts regularly with customers, cross-functional partners, executives, and stakeholders. You will be expected to educate down, up and out on your design decisions and back them up with data/customer insights. You will be responsible for managing your own work queue and should demonstrate an ability to work around difficult design limitations and see around corners. Youll be an advocate for our customer experience.


Our team includes UX Researchers and Designers who actively partner with Product and Engineering to identify customer problems to solve, influence priorities, setting the North Star, planning work, executing design, ensuring quality, evaluating outcomes, and iterating.


We are looking for a highly-determined, highly-curious, entrepreneurial, and experienced UX Designer to help drive design strategy and mentor other designers within their scope of work. This person will work collaboratively with a team of product managers, engineers, executives, as well as UX leadership, a team of passionate and creative UX designers and researchers to improve how employees interact with their job and Amazon. Youll drive work from partnering on strategy through to execution. You are responsive, flexible and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment with a high-degree of independence and ownership to thrive in collaborative work environments while raising the bar for user experience and accessibility.

Key job responsibilities


- Strategize and design elegant and intuitive experiences by understanding the intersection of customer needs, business requirements, and technical constraints


- Lead the planning and strategic phases of a project. Proactively pitch new CX ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale.


- Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for mobile, and web interfaces throughout the design process.


- Independently deliver UX solutions for problems of large scope and complexity. Work through ambiguity, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.


- Be a champion for user-centered design by partnering with researchers to test your solutions in front of users; and be willing to build lightweight prototype, conduct scrappy and quick user testing on your own if required.


- Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership.


- Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community.


- Directly mentor and lead other designers.


- Successfully partner with cross-functional UX peers and partners to build seamless experiences that work backwards from the customer


Basic Qualifications

- 6+ years of design experience


- Have an available online portfolio


- Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes


- Experience with UX design of complex workflows


- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
