We are looking for a (1) Director, Human (Partner) Resources, Labor Relations - East and (1) Director, Campaign, who will lead a team of managers and a dedicated cross-functional team to provide labor relations support to partners and our leaders throughout our retail and non-retail environment. The function will support local leaders with resources to help lead through union activity with dignity and respect for our partners, while partnering with local leaders and support teams to focus on proactively uplifting the partner experience across North America through activating the most important strategic partner & store initiatives, leveraging analytics & data to generate insights, and acting as an advocate for all partners.
As a Director, Human (Partner) Resources, Labor Relations, you will:
- Lead through our Starbucks Mission & Values and have a track record of achieving excellence through delivering on priorities, problem-solving, building capability and leadership, and developing high-performing teams.
- Work closely with senior leadership and executives to identify needs, define strategy, develop action plans, identify deliverables, present results, measure outcomes, and provide recommendations.
- Possess knowledge of collective bargaining, grievance processes, contract administration, contract negotiation, and labor and management relationships. Knowledge of current major employment and labor laws such as ADA, FMLA, National Labor Relations Act, Taft-Hartley, etc.
- Leverage data and insights to assess and drive action to elevate customer and partner experience and demonstrate expertise in developing and implementing both reactive and proactive labor relations strategies and plans in close collaboration with organizational leadership.
- Inspire partners to emotionally connect to and embody our Mission & Values, ensuring inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility are integrated into practices at all levels. Leverage knowledge of best practice procedures used to investigate and resolve grievances and workplace concerns, including best practices as they relate to reducing bias during the investigation process.
- Serve as a balanced advocate for all partners, while role modeling personal growth through self-awareness and reflection.
- Lead with a growth mindset and act as a catalyst for change - see opportunities and drive improvements.
- Lead and develop a team of managers and cross-functional partners. Demonstrate experience building and managing exceptional teams and providing consistent feedback to achieve results in line with near and long-term strategic goals.
We'd love to hear from people with:
- Advanced experience in consulting and working with senior leaders in the design, development, and execution, including but not limited to human resources, labor relations, or employee relations strategies and initiatives, including change management, training and development, and performance management (preferred 8 years).
- Leadership and management skills managing a team with multi-functional accountabilities (preferred 8 years).
- Progressive experience providing human resources management services in a high-growth environment.
- Experience ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Experience establishing collaborative initiatives with multiple departments.
- Demonstrated project management experience, providing effective oversight across the design, delivery, and outcome stages.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven track record of building strong collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- For the LRD - East role, it is preferred that the partner live within the East Zone, but not required.
- For the Director, Campaign role, there is no geographic preference.
- For both roles, partners must live within a reasonable distance from a strong reliable airport.
- This role will require 75% travel.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
