Join our dynamic legal team as Counsel – Employment, I-9 Compliance, and Immigration, where your expertise will help shape our workforce strategy, ensure compliance, and support a diverse and growing organization. I-9 Program & E-Verify Leadership

  • Advise on enterprise-wide I-9 policies, process controls, and audit readiness
  • Lead reverification cadence and remote inspection pathways
  • Ensure documentation is compliant and regulator-ready
  • Work Visa Sponsorship & Case Strategy
  • Provide strategic counsel on visa sponsorship feasibility, timing, and risk
  • Manage outside immigration counsel and digital case platforms
  • Develop nonimmigrant/immigrant visa (NIV/IV) strategies to support business needs

Policy Development & Training

  • Draft accessible, practical guidance and toolkits
  • Deliver training on I-9, E-Verify, and immigration best practices
  • Employment Law Counseling
  • Provide day-to-day legal guidance on hiring, onboarding, accommodations, wage/hour, investigations, and workforce transitions
  • Advise on compliance with Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and other employment laws

Audits & Special Projects

  • Lead internal audits and compliance reviews related to I-9 and immigration
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions and organizational changes
  • Global Mobility: Advise on global mobility regulations.
  • Offer guidance on multinational mobility and compliance across jurisdictions

Vendor & Platform Management

  • Oversee relationships with outside counsel and technology providers
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective delivery of legal immigration services

Education and Experience

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution (Required)
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Required)
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including:
  • U.S. employment-based immigration (NIV and IV)
  • I-9 and E-Verify compliance, including remote inspection and audits
  • Employment law counseling for HR-related matters
  • Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and FLSA knowledge

Work Location and Travel

  • Hybrid Work Location with Required Travel
  • This role is based in a hybrid work office setting and requires approximately 10% domestic travel within the United States.
  • While candidates may work from various hybrid office locations, the preferred home office locations are: Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Charlotte, NC or Scottsdale, AZ

***These locations are preferred due to team collaboration needs and business travel considerations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job does not have supervisory duties.

Functional Skills

  • Prior in-house counsel experience
  • Familiarity with Equifax Compliance Center or similar I-9 platforms
  • Experience with immigration case management tools
  • Exposure to global mobility programs or cross-border assignments
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical business solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset, both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $120,000.00 - $166,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
