About the position

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as one of the technical anchors for the mobile engineering team that supports a product. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Serve as an expert resource to create and improve standards and best practices to ensure stability, high-performance, scalability, repeatable, and secure deliverables. Provide the team with thought leadership to promote re-use and develop consistent, scalable patterns. Provide suggestions for handling routine and moderately complex technical problems Lead and participate in implementation activities, ensuring architectural and operational requirements met. Assist in providing new standards and best practices to monitor, test, automate, and maintain IT components or systems. Stay current with Target’s technical capabilities, infrastructure, and technical environment. The Team The Mobility Infrastructure team manages core mobile device capabilities at Target spanning headquarters, stores, and distribution centers, totaling 2,000+ locations. Responsibilities

  • Support a large mobile device infrastructure of (over 200K devices) that includes multiple hardware platforms across all Target stores and distribution centers.
  • Lead efforts related to the evaluation, configuration, installation and ongoing maintenance of mobile devices
  • Responsible for creation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise device profiles, mobile device management configuration and compliance
  • Provide continuous process improvement related to availability, reliability and stability for owned hardware platforms
  • Communicate and coordinate with project team, partners, and stakeholders
  • Plan, document and execute hardware/software upgrades
  • Provide 3rd level engineering support to our customer support teams
  • Leverage your mobile expertise to provide guidance during customer meetings related to technology solutions for owned platforms
  • Analyze monthly performance reporting to understand incident trends, SLA adherence, hardware break/fix service call metrics to improve/maintain stability
  • Collaborate with multiple partner teams spanning Security, Infrastructure, Support and Development in your daily activities
  • Collaborate with strategic vendor partners on new technology offerings
  • Provide technical input during large hardware/software implementations to ensure that all equipment is properly installed, configured, secured, and maintained
  • Apply your subject matter expertise to resolve issues during cross team SWAT efforts
  • Support on premise and cloud hosted enterprise Mobile-Device Management (MDM) solutions for Mobile Device users which includes iOS and Android(rugged)

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding Target’s technology capabilities, and key competitors’ products and differentiating features
  • Four or more years of experience with technical troubleshooting and hands-on experience in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the following:
  • Enterprise experience managing a large wireless printer environment
  • Mobile Devices (handhelds, tablets, kiosks, wearables, printers)
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM): Expertise in managing and maintaining mobile devices through MDM enterprise solutions
  • Operating Systems - Android (rugged), iOS
  • LAN, WLAN, WAN Communication and Authentication infrastructure
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Network and Data Security: Knowledge of network security and data security principles
  • Familiar with Android application development tools, including Android Studio, Android SDK, ADB
  • Mobile Security: Strong understanding of mobile security best practices, policies, and threats, including mobile threat defense
  • Familiar with Android application development tools, including Android Studio, Android SDK, ADB
  • Responsible for OS patch management and application lifecycle management
  • Automation & Optimization: Automate tasks to maintain operational efficiency on the platform we manage
  • Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to mobile devices and their management
  • Continually identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations in the mobile device management domain aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiency
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with various teams and stakeholders
  • Work with internal stakeholders, vendors, and business units to set direction for the systems we manage and identify enhancement opportunities
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
