Then you’ll have success on our Design team that owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you’ll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet our own brand values, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction. As an ASSOCIATE DESIGNER : WILD FABLE-YOUNG CONTEMPORARY, you will support Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives for the knits + leisure categories. You will be expected to maintain a diligent and self-directed approach to workload, and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external partners. You will support team in developing own brand concepts which includes product/trend research, color, professional presentation boards/materials and initial design product designs. You will assist the team in preparing product specs, PLM system entry, CAD/hand sketching, updating product line sheets or colored CADS, communicating with vendors and developing trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages. You will work closely with the Technical Design department, working together to communicate aesthetic fit and construction details.

Responsibilities

  • support Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives for the knits + leisure categories
  • maintain a diligent and self-directed approach to workload, and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external partners
  • support team in developing own brand concepts which includes product/trend research, color, professional presentation boards/materials and initial design product designs
  • assist the team in preparing product specs, PLM system entry, CAD/hand sketching, updating product line sheets or colored CADS, communicating with vendors and developing trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages
  • work closely with the Technical Design department, working together to communicate aesthetic fit and construction details

Requirements

  • 2 year certificate or 4 year degree in Fashion Design preferred
  • Prefer to have experience within an internship or relative retail experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Familiarity with Procreate for certain businesses
  • Skilled at hand-sketching, CAD illustration, and/or fashion illustration
  • Keen eye for detail & nuance within trend & fashion, with a passion for elevated, aspirational design POV
  • Understanding of textiles, garment construction/ fit, raw materials, & product production
  • Effective Communicator: will need to give direction to cross functional teams (sourcing, tech development, and buyers) and vendors
  • Ability to research & apply market/ trend information
  • Curious & positive self-starter
  • Ability to build strong partnerships in order to successfully work in a team environment
