About the position
The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) is seeking an experienced Development Officer to join our Advancement Team. This role is pivotal in the development and implementation of event-based fundraising efforts and in-kind donations, aimed at creating meaningful engagement opportunities for both new and existing donors throughout the year. The Development Officer will be responsible for executing event fundraising strategies to achieve specific financial goals, which include signature events, patron events, third-party events, in-kind donations, and other special projects that support the mission of DCAC. The Development Officer will serve as the event champion for key fundraising events such as Aim for Advocacy and Mahjong for a Mission, while also providing assistance to the Director of Events and Corporate Partnerships on the Art for Advocacy event. This collaborative effort with advancement colleagues is essential to raise critical funds necessary to meet the agency's fundraising goals. For instance, the net goal for Aim for Advocacy is set at $325,000, while Mahjong for a Mission aims for a net goal of $50,000. Additionally, the Development Officer will assist with the Art for Advocacy event, which has an auction goal of $500,000, encompassing both live and silent auction items. Responsibilities include stewarding the artist process, preparing for Curatorial Committee meetings, sending submission details and reminders, and tracking event attendance of artists. DCAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of abused children in Dallas County and providing national leadership on child abuse issues. As the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, DCAC collaborates with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases, all at no cost to clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members, making a significant impact in the community. The organization is recognized nationally and internationally for its expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases, as well as for its cutting-edge clinical services and community training programs. Responsibilities
- Serve as event champion for Aim for Advocacy and Mahjong for a Mission.
- Assist the Director of Events and Corporate Partnerships on Art for Advocacy.
- Collaborate with advancement colleagues to raise critical funds to meet agency fundraising goals.
- Achieve a net goal of $325,000 for Aim for Advocacy.
- Achieve a net goal of $50,000 for Mahjong for a Mission.
- Assist with the Art for Advocacy auction, aiming for a goal of $500,000 between live and silent auction items.
- Steward the artist process for Art for Advocacy, including preparation for Curatorial Committee meetings.
- Send submission details and reminders to artists and track event attendance.
Requirements
- Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in high-level events management.
- Experience in managing relationships and soliciting donors for support.
- At least 2-3 years of fundraising experience or equivalent experience.
