Position Summary

Transportation Associates perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities (checking trailers, traffic flow, communication with operations), conduct yard audits, complete driver training programs, and operate multiple vehicle types to support Amazon’s transportation network. They work outside, learn about transportation operations, and may earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) paid for by Amazon.

Responsibilities
  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforcing safety measures for all vehicle operators, vendors, and senior team members.
  • Perform various functions within the yard to support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, ensuring trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintaining workflow for buildings.
  • Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies and procedures (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, break periods, etc.).
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks, comply with Amazon policy and federal/state regulations, and drive safely under all weather/road conditions.
  • Support the business on an as‑needed basis by serving as a peer trainer or working at nearby site locations.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload trucks using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

Basic Qualifications
  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license.
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Be able to understand and adhere to all job requirement and safety guidelines in English.
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs.
  • Work 40 hours/week, with overtime as required.
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
  • Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Completion of Career Choice Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Course.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
